Helipad open for business: VCH

We go through all the processes involved in landing a helicopter or having one take off. It s a trial run and they watch carefully to make sure that we re abiding by all Transport Canada rules and regulations as they pertain to helivac landings.
At Tuesday s (July 3) council meeting Mayor Nancy Wilhelm-Morden noted the helipad is up-and-running meaning those with urgent medical needs can be transferred. This has been a frustrating and trying time so it s good to see this is open, she said. Now patients can be transported.
The TC inspection involved a mock scenario of a helivac landing, reviewing all the procedures such as the control of pedestrian and motor traffic at the adjacent intersection of Blackcomb Way and Lorimer Road. ....

RMOW decides against asphalt appeal

Whistler council has voted against appealing the recent Supreme Court decision stating that Whistler Aggregate s asphalt plant in Cheakamus Crossing is permitted to operate there. In a news release sent out this morning (Feb. 28), it was revealed that the RMOW will instead seek to work with the asphalt plant s operator, Frank Silveri, to consider improvements that would "advance the quality of life for residents in the short term and seek a longer-term solution that meets the requirements of all parties." ....

Pam Goldsmith-Jones gets to work

“I thought we would be successful,” Goldsmith-Jones said, on the ferry to the Sunshine Coast to thank volunteers there. “I had knocked on so many doors and had so many conversations. Whistler celebrates BC Culture Days

As part of the celebrations, several local artists will also be spending their weekend producing live art along the Cultural Connector’s path through the Village, while artist Jessa Gilbert gets to work on the final stages of a new public art mural located on the Creekside underpass, funded by the RMOW.
“BC Culture Days is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the Cultural Connector.
