Fast-Growing Firm Moving To Birmingham, Plans To Create 816 Jobs

Landing is relocating its headquarters from San Francisco to Birmingham, where it will create 816 new full-time jobs as it accelerates growth plans.
BIRMINGHAM, AL Gov. Kay Ivey announced Thursday that Landing, a company building a nationwide network of fully-furnished apartments available to those in its membership model, plans to relocate its headquarters from San Francisco to Birmingham, where it will create 816 new full-time jobs as it accelerates growth plans.
Landing’s move is made possible by a partnership forged with the State of Alabama, Jefferson County and the City of Birmingham, according to the governor s office. The hiring boom will increase Landing’s total workforce in Alabama to 900 and the company’s total employment to over 1,000 nationwide over several years. ....

Birmingham takes action on gun violence against children, sets up $125K reward fund

Birmingham Mayor Randall L. Woodfin, joined by nearly two dozen faith leaders, on Tuesday announced a $125,000 fund to help solve crimes against six children under the age of 10 who have been shot in Birmingham so far this year.
One of the children, Major Turner, 2, died Feb. 5, just hours after someone riddled his Kimbrough Homes apartment with gunfire. Arrests have been made in only one of the cases.
The Gun Violence Against Children Fund will be used to provide money leading to the arrest of individuals responsible in the separate shootings. A $25,000 reward will be available for each case. ....
