Revive Coffee & Wine celebrates 5th anniversary with grand opening of The Barrel Room

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Revive Coffee & Wine has been a popular spot in South Lake Tahoe for coffee, food, wine, and ambiance since opening in June of 2016, and now there is a new addition to the Al Tahoe business.
The Barrel Room is opening adjacent to Revive and celebrates Tahoe s history along with a full line-up of wines, six local area beers on tap, and a small plate menu. Months in the making, The Barrel has been hand-crafted as nicely as its extensive wine and beer list.
The sleek bar is from a tree that was possibly used on the Pony Express route that came through South Lake Tahoe 1861-62. Local contractor John Tomaselli was hired to cut the tree and saw the beauty of it and learned about its possible history. Cut as a four-inch slap, the tree is now the bar after hours of finishing and resin applied by Jared Brackett. ....

Optimist Club hosts annual Fishing Derby in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The South Lake Tahoe Optimist Club s annual Dale Sare Memorial fishing Derby at Sawmill Pond will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
This event is free for all children 14-years-old and younger.
Fishing tackle and bait are available for free, or participants can bring their own. There will be some experts on hand to provide guidance on how to catch the best fish.
Optimists will be serving free hot dogs and lemonade to the kids. There will also be raffle prizes for participants!

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - The loose, sandy descent at the end of the iconic Flume Trail has long been an issue for mountain bikers and hikers alike. Riders have been known to go over their handlebars due to the deep sand, and conflicts between user groups descending Tunnel Creek from the Flume Trail and Tahoe Rim Trail are increasing in frequency. To relieve the pressure and create a safer, more enjoyable experience for everyone, the Tahoe Fund is launching a matching campaign with the help of one of its donors to help close the funding gap needed to build a new singletrack trail adjacent to the road. Every dollar donated will be matched by the Spaht family until the campaign goal of $50,000 is reached. ....

Businesses may see lower assessed values and taxes due to COVID-19

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - Many businesses in the county may see reductions to their assessed value due to impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic, the El Dorado County Assessor Karl Weiland announced today.
Business property does not fall under the Prop. 13 umbrella and is required to be assessed at the fair market value as of each lien date. Under Prop 13, real property is required to be assessed at the lower of the Prop 13 trended value, or the fair market value per Prop. 8, as of the lien date of January 1st.
El Dorado County follows assessment guidance provided by the California Assessors Association (CAA) and develops business valuation factors in conjunction with publications developed by the California State Board of Equalization. ....
