More than 1,000 pounds of invasive snakeheads – sometimes known frankenfish – and other invasive species like flathead and blue catfish were removed this spring from the Susquehanna River about 5 miles downriver from Pennsylvania.
Workers at the Conowingo Dam fish lifts caught and removed the fish, which will be provided to local food banks and used in research.
The fish lifts were installed on the east and west sides of the dam decades ago to help migrating native species of fish, such as American shad and river herring, navigate the dam-blocked Lower Susquehanna River to reach their spawning grounds upriver. ....

Invasive Fish from Conowingo Dam Donated to Food Banks
The Conowingo Dam employs fish lifts to help migrating fish species navigate the Susquehanna River to their spawning grounds, but the lifts also catch unwelcomed fish – invasive catfish and snakehead. Through a public-private partnership between the Maryland Department of Resources (DNR), dam owner Exelon Corp., the Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA), and local seafood wholesaler, JJ McDonnell and Co., the invasive fish pulled from the Conowingo are going to local food banks and scientific research, while reducing the number of destructive species in the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
“This initiative serves multiple goals, including controlling invasive fish species by harvesting them to minimize their impacts on the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem and providing protein-rich meals to those in need,” DNR Secretary Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio said. “We will also improve our collection of scientific data, which will help u ....

Sorry we couldn’t fit all of your millions of mails in today. Keep them coming to theeditor@football365.com…

I read the responses
to my mail yesterday, Klopp’s subsequent comments pre and post the Leeds game (didn’t watch the game itself, of course), and the reaction to Klopp’s comments with a lot of interest.
1. Will Ford’s piece
“Klopp forgoes chance to be Churchill in war on ESL” is strange in that it demands Klopp to be completely opposite of what Will says he is: loved by many, disliked by some, respected by all, an icon. ....

Prince Charles appeared to be in tears as he inspected the many flowers and tributes left for his father, Prince Philip.
Dressed in a blue suit with black tie, he bent to read the tributes, at times looking almost overcome by grief.
The Duchess, dressed in black, also looked solemn as she bent to look at the messages, paying particular attention to a model Land Rover with the words “The Duke R.I.P” written on the roof. ....
