Water turned off, boil order issued for area of Prophetstown, IL

PROPHETSTOWN, Ill. An area of Prophetstown, Illinois has had its water shut off and placed under a boil order in the afternoon on Monday, December 28.
According to City of Prophetstown Office Administrator Rhonda Carter at about 2:30 p.m., the area of West 2nd Street to West Riverside Drive has been placed under boil order and had its water service shut down. 
Carter says that cause is currently unknown and that Public Works is at the scene doing work in the area.

Tuesday, 4:43 a.m., no injuries were reported following a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of North Union and West State streets. A vehicle operated by Robert E. Peck, 67, of Martha Avenue, was entering the roundabout when he reportedly struck a vehicle operated by Michael E. Osby Jr., 35, of 225 N. First St. Peck told police Osby’s vehicle was driving without lights at a high rate of speed. Osby’s vehicle subsequently veered into a construction area in front of the Manufacturer’s Hanover building, causing damage to fencing and scaffolding. Osby was cited for operating a motor vehicle with license suspended and inadequate lights. ....

Austin public art: City Council OKs removal of blue panels along Lamar

Savor your Moments. Austin City Council on Thursday approved recommendations from the Arts Commission to officially remove several pieces of public art from the city s collection, including one along Lamar Boulevard that s caused plenty of conversation over the years.
You might not know the name of Moments, an artwork by Austin artist Carl Trominski, but you ve surely seen it: a series of 6-foot-high reflective blue panels on the retaining walls of the section of Lamar that passes under the Third Street and Union Pacific Railroad bridges.
The piece, installed in 2003 and found on the drive between Sandra Muraida Way and Fifth Street, was commissioned by the Art in Public Places Program. Council members on Thursday approved the deaccession of Moments. According to Austin public radio station KUT, which first reported the news, that means the piece can be removed and transferred to the hands of the city Transportation Department. ....
