GREENWICH As a developer puts forward a plan for a large modern apartment building on the west side of Greenwich, area residents are feeling apprehensive about the potential for overdevelopment and a loss of community character.
The building plan for 44 residential units in the West Putnam Avenue corridor is sparking criticism, with some saying that the area is taking on the look of a city, and a not particularly attractive one. Some 30 emailed comments and letters have been submitted to the Planning and Zoning Commission over the proposal, and many community residents have been speaking out in recent weeks with their concerns about the changing nature of the west end of town. ....

Vaccination clinics open in Fairfield, Greenwich, and Trumbull

Yale New Haven Health System opened several vaccination clinics in Connecticut Thursday.
Three Yale New Haven Health clinics opened, including one at 501 Kings Highway East office 204 in Fairfield, Quarry Road in Trumbull and on West Putnam Avenue in Greenwich.
All clinics are located at Northeast Medical Group offices.
On Friday, a vaccination clinic will open on the Yale West Campus in Orange on West Campus Drive inside building 410.
Next week, a vaccination clinic will open at the Parsons Center in Milford on West River Street, and another at the Brunswick School in Greenwich at the Samson Field House on King Street. ....

Westchester Woman Nabbed Stealing Seafood From Fairfield County Supermarket, Police Say

A Westchester County woman was arrested for allegedly stealing almost $200 worth of seafood from a Fairfield County grocery store.
Niesha Willis, 34, of Valhalla, was arrested on Tuesday, Dec. 22, by Greenwich Police for allegedly stealing from a central Greenwich supermarket, police said.
Willis was arrested after police responded to the market on West Putnam Avenue for a report that a larceny had just occurred.
Officers were able to locate Willis by matching the description given to them by store employees, police said.
Willis originally gave officers a fake name and later admitted to doing so. An investigation revealed that she had attempted to steal $199.85 of seafood from the supermarket but was stopped by staff at the exit. ....
