COVID-19: Popular Deli Closes One Of Its Three Locations In Fairfield County

A longtime Fairfield County deli known for its great sandwiches and catering, and a favorite spot for area workers, has closed its doors.
Corbo s Corner Deli, located at 1380 East Putnam Ave., in Old Greenwich closed its doors for good on Thursday, Dec. 24, 14 years after it opened to serve locals simple, popular food.
After 14 years we are sad to say goodbye to our Old Greenwich location, the owners said on Facebook.
The owner, John Bosco, plans to keep his two other locations, one on the west end of Greenwich on West Putnam Avenue, and the other on Washington Boulevard in Stamford, open. ....

GREENWICH A supermarket in central Greenwich called police about an attempted shoplifting incident on the morning of Dec. 22, according to police.
Officers found a suspect nearby and arrested the 34-year-old woman from Valhalla, N.Y., police said. She gave officers a false identity, police said.
She was charged with attempted larceny and interfering with a police investigation, police said.
The arrest report stated she attempted to take $199 worth of seafood but was blocked by supermarket staff at the door. She was released on $1,000 bail. ....

A beachfront vacant lot with an eye-popping price tag of $21.9 million has sold for a recorded $20.2 million in Palm Beach, a deed recorded Tuesday shows.
A new house will be developed on speculation on the property at 7 Ocean Lane, according to the real estate agent on the buyer’s side of the sale.
The half-acre lot has about 100 feet of beachfront and is a block south of The Beach Club at the end of a cul-de-sac. The lot is next door to a home owned by Elizabeth Ailes, widow of former Fox News president and CEO Roger Ailes, who died in May 2017 shortly after the couple bought their house new in 2016. ....

The National Weather Service maintains a Significant Weather Events Archive that goes back to 2010. In that time, it lists six storms officially classified as blizzards in southern Connecticut.
Of course, the infamous Feb. 6, 1978, Storm of the Century is missing, as is the granddaddy of them all, the March 11, 1888, Great New England Blizzard.
The storm that is just arriving in our area now may make these seem so, well, last century. We ll have to see.
