Marathon Co. Committees Vote to Support ISP Broadband Expansion Grant Applications

WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) Two committees in Marathon County showed their support for local companies looking to expand broadband service in Central Wisconsin.
Thursday afternoon Marathon County’s Executive Committee and the HR and Finance Committee held a joint meeting to hear a presentation from Bug Tussel Wireless regarding their project for a 2021 Public Service Commission Grant Application. The project would expand broadband service in 16 different areas of Marathon County with financial help from the state commission.
The County is also looking to partner with two other Internet Service Providers in supporting their PSC Grant Applications. The other service providers, Cirrinity and Country Wireless would also expand broadband services in different areas of the county with fiber installation to new homes. ....

Public hearing for MCPL system change postponed indefinitely

WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) â The process to change library systems for the Marathon County Public Library is going to take a little bit longer.
At Thursdayâs meeting of the Marathon County Extension, Education, and Economic Development Committee the committee was agendized to set a date for a public hearing. The public hearing would be for the Marathon County Public Library Boardâs Recommendation to move library systems to the South Central Library System.
Committee Chair and District 20 Supervisor Sara Guild said she had received an email request from the Library Board in the morning to postpone setting a date for the public hearing. âThey would like to continue conversations at the Library Board level to gather additional information before a public hearing is scheduled.â ....
