California expects to end most mask mandates June 15
State officials are expected to release mask guidelines for some indoor settings to coincide with the end of most pandemic-era restrictions.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. California could end most of its mask mandates on June 15, coinciding with the state’s near-full reopening. 
Gov. Gavin Newsom said the state would still provide guidance for indoor businesses and events, but would not require them if vaccination numbers remain high and case rates remain low.
“We will be updating our mask guidelines, outdoor masking if we reach that threshold where we hope to be. We ll be eliminated those mandates,” said the governor. “The bottom line is we ll go back to the most broad strokes, a semblance of normalcy if we continue down this path in the next five weeks. More than 200 fully vaccinated San Diegans have tested positive for COVID-19
County health officials say San Diego s rate among fully vaccinated people is three times higher than the national average, although the results were expected.

SAN DIEGO A small portion of fully vaccinated San Diegans have tested positive for coronavirus. County health officials said 203 people who received either both doses of Pfizer or Moderna’s vaccine or Johnson & Johnson’s one-dose vaccine and waited two weeks for it to take full effect later tested positive.
Deputy Public Health Officer Eric McDonald, M.D., M.P.H., said the results were not unexpected. Pfizer and Moderna’s vaccines had an efficacy rate of about 95% in trials while J&J’s had a 72% efficacy rate in U.S. trials. ....

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. All Californians aged 16 and older will be eligible to get a coronavirus vaccine beginning on Thursday. San Diego County officials expect it will be initially difficult for everyone who wants an appointment to get one and have asked for patience. 
“It’s going to create a surge of people seeking out vaccines. So, there will be the normal frustration that we’ve been through multiple times and challenges in getting appointments and we continue to ask everyone to be patient,” said Supervisor Nathan Fletcher.  ....
