Jan De Nul completes cable repair work for TenneT

Jan De Nul Group has successfully repaired TenneT’s AC108 cable connecting the Trianel Borkum offshore substation with Tennet s DolWin alpha convertor station. The repair job is part of the Service Level Agreement for cable repairs that Jan De Nul Group and TenneT entered into in 2019.
TenneT engaged Jan De Nul Group for the repair of a cable fault located within the 500-m zone around the DolWin alpha platform, 75 km off the German coast north of the island Borkum. This offshore platform connects three wind farms in the German North Sea to the German extra-high voltage grid, and is therefore vital for these wind farms to get the green energy ashore. ....

Luxembourg-based Jan De Nul Group reports that it is the buyer of the of the offshore construction and cable-lay vessel
Connector. Last Friday, vessel owning company Ocean Yield ASA disclosed that it had sold the vessel and that it would record a non-cash book loss of $70 million on the sale.
“The
Connector was operating on a long-term bareboat charter until February 2017,” says Andreas Reklev, SVP Investments of Ocean Yield ASA, “In anticipation of a market recovery, Ocean Yield has for the past years traded the vessel in the short-term market. Through this position we have realized that in fact an industrial setup is required to operate the vessel efficiently in the cable-lay market whereby total solutions can be offered including dedicated engineering and operations teams. As such, we believe Jan De Nul will be well placed to efficiently operate the vessel which we see leaving in an excellent condition a ....

Ocean Yield Sells Connector Vessel to Jan De Nul

Luxembourg-based marine services company Jan De Nul Group has agreed to buy the offshore construction and cable-lay vessel Connector from Ocean Yield. The vessel will be officially transferred during the fourth quarter of 2020.
The Connector, previously known as Lewek Connector, is an advanced subsea construction & cable-lay vessel that was operating on a long-term bareboat charter until February 2017.
Ocean Yield has, expecting a market recovery, for the past years traded the vessel in the short-term market. As the market has remained challenging, Connector has contributed negatively to both net profit and cash flow, Ocean Yield said. ....
