Kennebunkport, ME, boards OK $10.4M budget proposal for town expenses

KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine – The town’s budget board has given its stamp of approval on nearly $10.4 million in municipal operating expenses proposed for Fiscal Year 2022.
The vote on April 1 followed the selectmen’s approval of the proposed figure during their meeting a week earlier.
Town Manager Laurie Smith said the board of selectmen and the budget board were set to meet jointly Thursday, April 8, to review the draft warrant for the annual town meeting in June and vote on each of its articles.
The proposed operating expenses consists of about $2.1 million for general government, $3.0 million for public safety, $820,000 for health and welfare, $1.3 million for public works, $700,000 for recreation and culture, and $2.5 million for capital outlay. ....

Kennebunkport to lease two electric Hyundai Konas for town departments

KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine – In a move that is expected to help save money and reduce carbon emissions in the community, the town s selectmen approved leasing two electric cars for the planning and public health departments.
Town Manager Laurie Smith told selectmen at their Feb. 11 meeting she had been contacted by a salesperson at Westbrook Rowe Ford who informed her about a rebate program that would allow Kennebunkport to lease Hyundai Kona electric vehicles for three years for 10,000 miles each year. As a result of the Hyundai rebate and funds from Efficiency Maine, the town would pay nothing for the lease, Smith said. ....

The town of Kennebunkport has agreed to lease two Hyundai Kona EV cars. One will be used by the Public Health Department while the second will be used by the town’s planning and codes enforcement personnel.
