Each winter members of the Boy Scouts of America participate in a competition called the Klondike Derby. It’s become a staple for Troop 47, which is based in the Leonardo section of Middletown.
“There are 12 stations and they have to problem-solve,” Troop 47 Scoutmaster Mike Marinelli explained. “Some are simple tasks like tying knots. Others are first aid. One station every year is water rescue.”
In the water rescue the Scouts use ropes, buoys and human chains  several people lined up, locked hand in hand, as a lifeline when no other equipment is available.   ....
