We don t exist in a bubble here at Nintendo Life, and there s many a time we ve glanced over other sites and spotted a feature that makes us jealous we didn t think of writing it first. One such piece is this excellent RetroBeat feature by Mike Minotti over on VentureBeat, which asks one very reasonable question:
Hey Nintendo, remember those cool mini-consoles?
It s amazing to think that Nintendo announced the NES Classic Edition back in 2016, before the Switch had made it to market. Our news story covering the announcement was one of the most popular of the entire year, and the console went on to sell a whopping 3.6 million units worldwide before Nintendo pulled it from production. It followed up with the SNES Classic Edition in 2017 – which sold 5.28 million – but hasn t produced any other micro-consoles since then. ....

Star Wars: Squadrons Studio Reportedly Working on Another Popular IP
Even though it just finished working on
Star Wars: Squadrons less than a year ago, EA Motive is already working on its next project. And while we have yet to know just what this new game might be, a new report has come about that at the very least lets us know that it won t be a wholly original title.
Coming by way of the GamesBeat Decides podcast, hosts Jeff Grubb and Mike Minotti were asked by a listener about what EA Motive could be working on in the future. Grubb said that although he knows what the studio is now developing, he couldn t share the details at the moment. Minotti then stepped in and said that he also knows what the developer is making next, but only went as far to say that it is an established IP. Whatever this game is, Grubb went on to say that he thinks fans will be happy with it. ....

A new report about one of gaming’s most notorious “secret” consoles is out. According to it, the Nintendo Switch Pro that’s been rumored about for years might finally be on the way for real, and it’ll have a beautiful new screen to go with it. Even better, it’ll be out this year always assuming, of course, that this iteration of the rumor is true.
The report comes from Bloomberg, and alleges that this upgraded Switch will have a 7-inch Samsung-made OLED display with a 720p resolution, and will output at 4K when docked. This is virtually identical to a leak about the in-development Switch Pro from a few months ago. Further rumors suggest that some games in development may be Switch Pro-exclusive. If true, it’d be a good candidate for Nintendo’s 2021 holiday season, and it would make a nice pattern the Switch Lite launched two years after the Switch Classic, and it’s b ....
