Godshill residents want answers after flooding chaos


School Crescent flooded on Sunday, along with neighbouring Moor View and Ternal Mead roads, after heavy rain.
Ann Walker, 79, said her garden was flooded and she can smell sewage when her back door is open.
She was so distressed about the flooding and frightened to leave her home in case the water spread, she had to cancel her weekly visit to see her husband Ron, who is in a care home.
She said: I cannot tell you how sick I am with it. The drains are overflowing and it all floods into my garden. It is petrifying and I don t know what to do about it. ....

SEVERAL new faces will take their place at County Hall following the Isle of Wight Council elections.
We asked a selection of them some questions about their new role, and their hopes for the Island.

The Conservative candidate in the 2021 Isle of Wight council elections for Central Rural, Suzie Ellis, believes she can put forward “a sound case” to convince the Isle of Wight council planning committee to reject plans for oil drilling on the Island.
Ellis: “Oil drilling plans not welcome”

As well as cutting carbon emissions by 78% in the next 15 years, the Government should also ban fossil fuel extraction, including on the Isle of Wight, say the Green Party
The Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, yesterday (Tuesday) announced they would toughen its targets on greenhouse gas emissions for the next 15 years.
The Isle of Wight Green Party cautiously welcome plans to cut carbon emissions by 78% in the next 15 years,  but demand that this policy immediately extends to a national moratorium on all fossil fuel extraction – including stopping oil drilling on the Isle of Wight. ....
