Mass vaccination clinics winding down, Alder closes Aug. 20

As the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph region continues to make progress on its COVID-19 vaccine rollout, WDG Public Health is announcing the next phase of the local vaccination program. Beginning next Friday (August 6) mass vaccination clinics in the region will begin to close. The last date for each clinic will be:
August 6, 2021 – University of Guelph (50 South Ring Rd, Guelph)
August 11, 2021 – Linamar/Skyjack (201 Woodlawn Rd W., Guelph)
August 20, 2021 – West End Recreation Centre (21 Imperial Rd S, Guelph), Alder Arena (275 Alder St, Orangeville), Centre-Wellington Community Sportsplex (550 Belsyde Ave E, Fergus)
WDG Public Health and partners will continue to offer smaller clinics in Guelph, Fergus and Orangeville, as well as pop-up clinics throughout the region into the fall.   ....

Nearly 13,000 Waterloo Region residents have been fully vaccinated so far: officials

Roughly two per cent of Waterloo Region s population has received both doses of the vaccine, which comes out to just under 13,000 residents.
A number of people were spaced out in a line at a clinic in Kitchener on Friday morning awaiting their shots.
Debbie Clifford tells CTV News she found out Wednesday she would be getting her first dose and arrived extra early for her appointment.
It takes that little bit of worry away, how I affect my mom or other people should I catch the virus, she said. I do work in a school as well, so this kind of puts that little bit of ease in my mind that I m doing all that I can to keep myself safe, my family safe, and others around me safe. ....

Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) has announced a plan for mass COVID-19 immunization clinics for when new doses of the vaccine become available in the region.
WDG Public Health presented the plan for mass immunization clinics to Ontario’s COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Task Force on Feb. 10.
The plan presented to the taskforce consists of three clinic structures for the vaccination program which include; Public Health led-hub clinics location at WDGPH offices in Guelph and Orangeville, and Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex; mobile clinics led by Public Health and supported by Guelph-Wellington and Dufferin County Paramedic Services and local Family Health Teams for rural and vulnerable communities; partner-led clinics headed by Guelph Family Health Team, University of Guelph and Linamar. ....
