The airport says a lot about Cortez, Colorado: The single-engine planes that fly into its one-room airport seat nine passengers at most. The city of about 9,000 is known largely as a gateway to beautiful places like Mesa Verde National Park and the Four Corners Monument. But COVID-19 vaccines have made Cortez a destination in its own right.
“We had a couple fly in to get their vaccine from Denver that couldn’t get it in the Denver metro area,” said Marc Meyer, director of pharmacy services and infection control for Southwest Health System, which includes clinics and a community hospital in Cortez. Others have come from neighboring states and as far away as California, Florida and the Carolinas. “They all come back for their second dose,” he said. “Because it’s so hard to get in the cities.” ....

Residential and commercial development in and around Boulder Junction. If or when a commuter train ever comes to Boulder and Longmont, this would be the Boulder stop. Gov. Jared Polis says RTD must follow through on its promise to build a rail line from Denver to Boulder and Longmont in spite of its budget issues. “The train has to come. It was part of the 2004 ballot initiative,” Polis says.
Nearly 90 minutes into the Regional Transportation District board’s Tuesday night meeting on the unfinished commuter rail line to Boulder and Longmont, RTD board chair Angie Rivera-Malpiede interrupted.  ....

Montbello FreshLo Initiative Awarded $2+ Million Tax Credit

Denver, Colo., Dec. 10, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) Recently, the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) announced the recipients of state and federal housing tax credits awarded in its second competitive allocation round of the year. The Montbello FreshLo Initiative, a program of the Montbello Organizing Committee (MOC) that will include a grocery-anchored, cultural hub with affordable housing received an award of  $1,267,504 in federal housing tax credits and  $1,000,000 in state housing tax credits.  
The credit allocation will allow MOC to leverage approximately $34 million in funds to build out the Montbello FreshLo Hub, a mixed-use development that will include 97 affordable housing units, from one to three bedrooms, for residents making 30 to 70 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI) which in 2020 is $24,000 to $56,000 in annual gross income for a two-person household in Denver County.
