Buford man charged in U.S. Capitol riots granted bond


A Buford man charged with participating in violent riots on the U.S. Capitol building last month is now out of jail on bond. However, Verden Andrew Nalley, 49, will have to stay in his residence when he s not at work, according to a Friday ruling by a federal magistrate judge. 
The FBI arrested Nalley this week in connection with the Jan. 6 breach at the U.S. Capitol. He is one of nine Georgians implicated to date in the incident. 
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Assistant U.S. Attorney Ryan Buchanan requested Nalley be placed under house arrest, but Atlanta Magistrate Judge Christopher Bly ruled Nalley could leave his home to go to work. Nalley was allowed to sign an unsecured bond for $10,000, according to the newspaper report. The judge ordered Nalley to wear an ankle monitor and to submit to drug tests.  ....

Another man from Georgia has been arrested on charges relating to the attack on the U.S. Capitol Jan. 6.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation said Verden Andrew Nalley, 49, of Buford, was arrested Tuesday.
Channel 2′s Gwinnett County Bureau Chief Tony Thomas learned that Nalley is charged with three federal counts, though details on the charges have not been released yet. He’s charged alongside south Georgia attorney William Clahoun, who Channel 2 first reported was under arrest on Jan. 8.
Calhoun and Nalley apparently went to Washington together. Video that Calhoun posted on his social media on the day of the riot is part of the federal evidence. ....

New analysis shows nearly 60% of the people arrested for allegedly taking part in the January 6 Capitol riot had a history of financial troubles
The money problems included bankruptcies, notices of eviction or foreclosure, bad debts, or unpaid taxes of up to $40,000
A quarter of the group had been sued for owing money and 20% had at one point faced losing their homes
