That’s where Collins was driving with her then 13-year-old daughter, Alyssa Barron, on Feb. 9 when another car failed to stop at a flashing red light and struck their vehicle.
The impact of the crash deployed the airbags and sent Collins’ car into a utility pole, which broke in half due to the impact.
Collins said she is thankful that she, Barron and the 19-year-old driver in the other car all had been wearing their seat belts. They each walked away from the crash with only cuts and bruises. ....

Traffic roundabout coming to McCallum Avenue and Edison Street NE

LEXINGTON TWP. Construction of a traffic roundabout at Edison Street and McCallum Avenue NE is to begin this spring.
The Ohio Department of Transportation is accepting bids for the work and expects to award a contract next month. The agency s timeline calls for construction to start May 1, with a completion date of Oct. 30.
The overall price of the project is estimated at $2.7 million, with $2.2 million of that for construction costs.
Ray Marsch, a spokesman for ODOT District 4 which includes Stark County, said the roundabout should reduce the number of traffic accidents in the area.
He said a review of data from 2002 through 2014 showed 67 crashes at the intersection. McCallum, the north-south road, has stop signs in both directions where it crosses the east-west Edison, also known as state Route 619. ....
