State to begin distracted driving enforcement and education campaign

ALBANY, N.Y. â New York State Police and local law enforcement will participate in the national U Drive. U Text. U Pay. mobilization to raise awareness about the dangers of distracted driving.
April marks Distracted Driving Awareness Month nationwide. Law enforcement throughout the state will be stepping up patrols during this enforcement initiative, which runs from Thursday, April 8 through Monday, April 12.Â
As we saw with the tragic death of Trooper Joe Gallagher, distracted driving can have deadly consequences, and it will not be tolerated in the State of New York, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said.

New York has proudly led the way in combatting distracted driving by becoming the first state in the nation to prohibit the use of cell phones and have since continued our efforts to ensure the safety of all on the road. Today and always, I urge everyone to do their part to drive responsibly and help save lives, Cuomo added.Â ....

Warren County to lift restrictions on in-person visitors to county agencies starting on Monday

Apr 09, 2021 Warren County will end restrictions on entering the county Municipal Building on Monday.
Members of the public will be able to visit Warren County agencies in person during business hours. Face masks, a health assessment, and other COVID-19 safety precautions must be followed.
The number of visitors or hours of availability may be limited in certain offices, because of space constraints. At times people might be required to wait outside or in vehicles until they can enter.
People also will be able to attend the County Board of Supervisors meetings in person however, the meetings will continue to be live-streamed. ....

BEN: IS IT FAIR TO PENALIZE A 60-YEAR-OLD DRIVER OR A SPEEDING TICKET HE RECEIVED IN HIS 30’S? THAT IS THE QUESTION ONE LOCAL MAN BROUGHT TO US AFTER HE COULD NOT GET ANSWERS. WE FOUND A LOT OF FINGER-POINTING. I NOTICED MY INSURANCE WENT UP 35%. WHEN HE OPENED HIS CAR INSURANCE RENEWAL, HE WAS STUNNED. $1200 OVER FOUR YEARS. HE LEARNED THE MASSACHUSETTS RMV HAD JUST APPLIED A SPEEDING TICKET HE RECEIVED IN NEW YORK TO HIS DRIVING RECORD WHICH IS WHY HIS RATES WENT UP TO THAT TICKET WAS FROM 1993. IT IS A 30-YEAR-OLD SPEEDING TICKET. HE WAS DRIVING THIS CAR, AND HE LOOKED LIKE THIS. THAT WAS ALMOST HALF MY LIFE AGO. WE HAVE SHOWN HOW THE RMV IS PLAYING CATCH-UP, ADDING OLD OU ....
