A wildfire ignited in the Stanislaus National Forest west of Yosemite on Tuesday had grown to 70 acres as of 4 p.m. and was producing heavy amounts of smoke, officials said.
The Abernathy Fire spread in a forested area west of Camp Mather, a camp that hundreds of San Francisco families enjoy every summer, in the Groveland Ranger District amid high winds.
We expect as the winds die down the danger will decrease, said Diana Fredlund, a spokesperson for the Stanislaus National Forest. ....

Woman Goes Missing While on Hike in Yosemite National Park

Investigators are looking for a woman who went missing while on a hike in the Yosemite National Park in California.
A statement on the national park s Facebook page over the weekend said that Alice Yu Xie has been missing since she went on a day hike to the Upper Yosemite Fall overlook on 15 or 16 January last week.
Xie is described as a 41-year-old Asian female, who is less than 5 feet tall, less than 100 pounds, and has neck-length black hair.

Authorities are searching for a 41-year-old woman who went missing during a hike at Yosemite National Park last week.
Alice Yu Xie is believed to have gone on a day hike to the Upper Yosemite Fall overlook on Friday or Saturday morning, authorities said. She has not been seen or heard from since.
Xie, a Chinese national living in the United States, was described as weighing less than 100 pounds, under 5 feet tall, with neck-length black hair. She traveled to Yosemite from Mariposa on a YARTS bus Friday. ....
