Two people were found dead Thursday in Yosemite West, a small community accessed through Yosemite National Park, in what officials are describing as a murder-suicide.
The Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office, which is investigating the case with the California Department of Justice crime lab in Fresno, said Friday that officials responded to reports of a possible deceased person around 4 p.m. Thursday.
Deputies found a deceased man and woman who officials said they believe were visiting the county. The sheriff’s office said that investigators think the woman shot the man multiple times before killing herself and that it has no additional people of interest.

15 STUNNING Airbnbs in Yosemite [2021 Edition]
Yosemite is arguably the most popular national park in the United States, and outdoor enthusiasts will want to tick it off their bucket list. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is packed with waterfalls, enormous trees, and granite mountains like El Capitan and the Half Dome. And the best part? They’re all connected by an extensive network of trails from which you can view wildlife.
When it comes to finding somewhere to stay in Yosemite, it’s not easy. There’s very little accommodation inside the national park itself, so you’ll have to look nearby. Hotels and hostels can book up pretty quick, so it’s a good idea to look at vacation rentals in Yosemite. Usually, they offer better value for money and much more personality!

Yosemite is one of the jewels in the crown of U.S. national parks. The towering granite rocks of its valleys are so famous that names like El Capitan and Half Dome have probably crossed your sight before.
But they’re just two of the craggy peaks that make views here so dramatic. Combined with the sweeping pine forests, the scenery here is absolutely breathtaking.
