WOODLAND On July 27 and Aug. 11, the Yolo County Probation Department will hold virtual community listening sessions to elicit input on potential future uses for the Juvenile Detention Facility.
Similar to other counties in California, Yolo County has seen a significant decline in the number of youths housed at the Juvenile Detention Facility. As such, Yolo County’s Juvenile Detention Facility is underutilized. Again, similar to other California counties, Yolo County is grappling with how best to use its facility and other related resources to best serve youths.
During these two community listening sessions the Probation Department will provide information on current uses of the Juvenile Detention Facility and options for potential future uses that have been explored to date. Participants will then be invited to provide feedback on these options and offer input on additional opportunities that may not y ....

Yolo DA’s Citizens Academy goes virtual
Yolo County District Attorney Jeff Reisig recently announced that the annual District Attorney Citizens Academy will be held virtually this year.
The academy is sponsored by the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office in cooperation with the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol, Yolo County Probation Department, and the UC Davis, Woodland, Winters and West Sacramento police departments.
The Citizen’s Academy is an eight-week journey designed to involve diverse communities in participating in mutual learning about the criminal justice system. The goal is to educate the public and improve relationships and communication between the many different communities in Yolo County and the criminal justice system. ....
