New Jersey Film Festival to be streamed this year
Just like that had to do in the fall, the New Jersey Film Festivals’ spring edition will be virtual, with all the movies available via streaming. The festival, which is a production of the Rutgers Film Co-op/New Jersey Media Arts Center and the Rutgers University Program In Cinema, was originally to be held on various locations on the Rutgers campus but because of the pandemic had to be moved online, with films being streamed on select Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Newark-based jazz station WBGO celebrated in new documentary


Chris Daniel s new documentary is a testament to the power and importance of putting in the work.
Daniel, based in Tinton Falls, began work on a documentary charting the early years of landmark Newark-based jazz station WBGO-FM in September 2018, finishing the film in the fall of 2020.
Starting with its founding in 1979, WBGO has been the collective work of countless folks who worked relentlessly to bring the sound of jazz to the people of Newark and beyond.
It wasn t a 9 to 5, at all, Daniel said in a recent online discussion of the film also featuring Asbury Park Press reporter Alex Biese.  It was a long, long, drawn-out labor of love, and they just stuck together. ....
