To the editor: Hello friends and neighbors, my name is Elijah Zimmer. I am running for a one year seat on the Rockingham Select Board. I am a 29 year old Bellows Falls resident. I want to promote a positive, livable and affordable community for working class families and people of all ages.
During these challenging times I recognize that empathy and a spirit of community collaboration are very important. By working together and having a civil, respectful dialog about the issues facing our communities, we can build a brighter future for all. As a young person I will bring a fresh perspective and new energy to the board. Promoting local businesses and the creative economy, the arts, historic preservation and care of the environment are important priorities that I feel improve the quality of life, create jobs and build a stronger community. ....

BELLOWS FALLS â Rockingham residents will have plenty of choice for the three open seats on the Rockingham Select Board at Town Meeting in March.
With Select Board members Gaetano Putignano and Ben Masure not seeking re-election, more than a half dozen people have filed for a seat, with most of the candidates filing for both the open three-year seat and one of the two, one-year seats.
Such a strategy is legal, Vermont election officials have said in the past, but successful candidates may only hold one seat.
Among the candidates are three named Wright: Bellows Falls Village President Deborah Wright, as well as her husband Cass Wright, have both filed two different seats; also filing for two seats is Jonathan Wright of Bellows Falls, who is no relation to Deborah or Cass Wright. Jonathan Wright was a former Bellows Falls village trustee until June. Cass Wright briefly served on the Rockingham Select Board a ....

Rockingham sets town meeting, budget, tax rate

BELLOWS FALLS â The Rockingham Select Board has decided to hold both a Zoom and in-person Town Meeting in March.
The board also approved the warning for the 2021 Town Meeting Tuesday night, adopting a proposed town budget of $6 million, which town officials said was level-funded over last yearâs budget. Of the $6,021,089 town budget, $5,122,944 has to be raised locally.
As a result, town taxes are projected to see a small decline from the current tax year, according to the townâs finance director, Shannon Burbela. She said there had been a slight increase in the townâs grand list of taxable properties. The proposed tax rate is $1.0903, down 0.0087 of a cent. ....
