BEVERLY Holding their first event in 16 months, the Muskingum Valley Beverly-Waterford Chamber of Commerce honored the 2021 Public Service Award Recipients inside the Beverly-Waterford Rescue Squad/Township Building on Wednesday afternoon. It is the 38th year for the event honoring the public service employees hosted by the chamber. Seven public service providers in Washington County were recognized for their achievements and hard work for the community. The awards were given out by the Sons of American Revolution member Robert Hadfield and each honoree received a medal and certificate to recognize their work. ....

New board advises public works By Sue Stafford Tuesday, February 2, 2021 11:36 AM The newest advisory board created by resolution of the Sisters City Council is the Public Works Advisory Board, which just began meeting in January. Public Works Director Paul Bertagna is enthused about the experience and expertise of the five new board members. Robert Hatfield volunteered for the board because he thought it “would be a good way to learn more about Sisters.” He has experience as a civil engineer, a construction manager, and in real estate. John Herman, the new owner of the Lazy Z Ranch, wanted to “get plugged in to the community” and is interested in future traffic plans. He moved to Sisters because he grew up on a ranch and wanted to raise his 3- and 5-year-old children here. ....
McLaren launch Papaya Laurels for long service Date published: January 10 2021 McLaren have inducted the first 14 members into a programme that recognises staff who have retired after long service to the team. The Papaya Laurels have all retired after more than 20 years at McLaren Racing and will receive a range of special benefits and rewards. These include free financial advice and guidance, while the plan is for a gala dinner to be held each year for the Papaya Laurels where they can formally reunite. Members will also be invited as guests of McLaren to the British Grand Prix in the year of their retirement and their name will be carried on the McLaren F1 car in the race nearest to their retirement date. ....
Volunteers named to city committees By Sue Stafford Large numbers of local volunteers will help guide Sisters into the future. A record number of volunteers turned out in November to fill positions on City boards and commissions, with terms beginning on January 1, 2021. The interested residents all filled out City applications and participated in Zoom interviews with several City councilors and City staff before the final selections were made. Council President Nancy Connolly told The Nugget, “I believe the people we selected are a fair representation of the community.” She indicated that the large number of applicants was a validation for the council and staff for being open and inclusive. ....
