New Concord GM Defense facility home to '' Infantry Squad Vehicle manufacturing

CONCORD — GM Defense LLC and Hendrick Motorsports have come together to create the Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV) for the U.S. Army with the benefit of racing technology and speed.
The new GM Defense facility in Concord started production on the vehicle at the start of April, but before parts were assembled in the building, the facility was built in just 90 days. And GM Defense was able to have the first ISVs to the Army 120 days after the company was awarded the manufacturing contract. The 75,000-square-foot plant includes some of the latest manufacturing tools, including a digital operating system utilizing Bluetooth-enabled tools to meet Army requirements with extreme precision. ....

Production of Army vehicles powered by NASCAR team underway in North Carolina

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Tribune News Service) Army vehicles are officially in production in Concord, and a NASCAR team helped.
GM Defense, a subsidiary of General Motors, on Tuesday celebrated the opening of its 75,000-square-foot manufacturing facility near Charlotte, where U.S. Army Infantry Squad Vehicles will be made. Fort Bragg in North Carolina will be the first to receive deliveries of the vehicles, the Observer previously reported.
The plans will produce all-terrain troop carriers called Infantry Squad Vehicles. The ISVs are strong enough to carry nine soldiers but have a light enough frame that it could have been used in a race car. ....

In the role, duMont will be in charge of bringing GM’s manufacturing, design, engineering, and commercial innovation abilities to defense and government customers. StockMarketWire.com - Engineering company Ricardo said it had won an $89 million contract to make safety improvements to the US Amry s high mobility multi-purpose wheeled vehicle.
The three-year contract would see Ricardo provide up to 9,480 antilock brake system and electronic stability control retrofit kits for the vehicles.
The first delivery order would include $10 million to deliver 1,200 retrofit kits by August.
A second delivery order was expected later this year to increase deliveries to about 2,000 retrofit kits over the next 12 months.
Today s initial award marks the beginning of a multi-year contract for Ricardo Defense to improve the safety and operational readiness of the fielded HMMWV fleet for US soldiers and HMMWV operators worldwide, Ricardo said. ....

The Army today awarded Ricardo Defense a base contract to provide up to 9,480 critical safety improvement Antilock Brake System / Electronic Stability Control (ABS/ESC) retrofit kits over the next three years for the U.S. Army’s High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV). The first delivery order, under the three-year base contract, will include $10M to deliver 1,200 ABS/ESC retrofit kits by August 2021. A second delivery order is expected later this year to increase deliveries to approximately 2,000 ABS/ESC retrofit kits over the next 12 months.
