Around the Rindge common, a smattering of banners fly proudly, ready to represent some of the town’s veterans in advance of the town’s Memorial Day observances next week.
So far, only three banners, representing four veterans, hang in Rindge’s downtown. Matthew Wieczhalek-Seiler, founder of Concord for Hometown Hero Banners, said that’s often how it starts – with just a few participants. And then it grows.
Wieczhalek-Seiler has been running his organization for three years now. After his brother, Staff Sgt. Thomas P. Seiler, died while serving in the U.S. Army, he said he’s had a special passion for the project. While visiting his father in Attica, New York, he went downtown on an errand, and happened to see a group putting up banners with veterans’ photographs on them. Having only recently lost his brother, he said he was struck by the image. ....

The Jaffrey and Rindge Select Boards came together this week to float several ideas to allow Rindge residents access to parking at Contoocook Beach.
Last year, the Jaffrey Select Board and Recreation Department began to explore a parking pass for out-of-town residents, after the beach was inundated with out-of-state visitors. In the process, the deed for the parking lot was reviewed, and the board discovered the restrictions on the gift of the land required the parking remain free and for Jaffrey residents only.
The board expects to start enforcing that restriction this year.
Town Administrator Jon Frederick told the Rindge Select Board it is the intent to start enforcement after Memorial Day weekend, and to have a period of public education and issuing warnings before implementing tickets and fines, and towing for repeat offenders. Jaffrey dump stickers will be used to identify Jaffrey residents. Stic ....

Challenger Marybeth Quill upset three-term Rindge Select Board member Roberta Oeser at the polls Tuesday.
Quill received a total of 682 votes to Oeser’s 434.
In other contested races, the three-way race for the two open planning board seats resulted in incumbents Katelyn Smith and Julie Sementa fending off challenger Joel Aho. Smith had the strongest showing, with a total of 806 votes, and Sementa took the second open seat with 593 to Aho’s 390.
The Budget Advisory Committee, which had no official candidates, had two write in winners, James Burger with 112 votes and Casey Burage with 16.
Political newcomer Deneen “Deni” Dickler took the contested race for the Zoning Board seat for one year, unseating incumbent Martin Kulla 645 to 383. ....
