Ottawa County receives first COVID-19 vaccine shipment
PORT CLINTON - Ottawa County will be administering a small number of COVID-19 vaccine doses this week, after the county health department received its first vaccine shipment Tuesday.
The Ottawa County Health Department announced the vaccines Ottawa County received will be distributed locally, in line with Ohio’s Phase 1A plan, which offers the first vaccines to health care workers, first responders, and people with developmental disabilities living in group settings.
Jerry Bingham, the county s health commissioner, told The News Herald the health department would be administering 40 first injection doses at its Port Clinton office Thursday. ....

The scene at Crown Pointe Care Center on the Northwest Side played on a video monitor while Gov. Mike DeWine spoke, catching him and other guests unaware. They belatedly applauded despite the missed cue.
“You’re No. 1 in the state,” DeWine told Meeker. “How do you feel?”
She responded, “Great.”
Geneva Dennison, wearing a sweatshirt proclaiming “LOVE,” was next.
“I’m excited to get it done,” she said after receiving the vaccine. “Thank you for doing this.”
“This is the day we have all been waiting for,” the governor said. “I can’t tell you how excited I am that today has arrived.” ....
