Biden 1.9 trillion dollar COVID/stimulus plan gains final passage

The US House gave President Biden’s 1.9 trillion dollar COVID relief and economic stimulus plan final passage today on a party-line vote.
The Louisiana Congressional Delegation voted against the plan. Baton Rouge Congressman Garret Graves said the package is full of unnecessary spending.
“Only about eight percent of this bill actually pertains to COVID healthcare, things like vaccines and testing and things along those lines,” said Graves.
The bill covers everything from a significantly increased and revamped child tax credit, 1,400 dollar stimulus checks to over 80 percent of Americans, increased health insurance subsidies, and a number of other items. ....

Landry, Nungesser off to strong 2023 fundraising starts

Potential 2023 Gubernatorial Race contenders Attorney General Jeff Landry and Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser are off to a strong fundraising start with the election more than two years away.
Landry is sitting on more than two million dollars and Nungesser has about a million in a half in the bank according to a fundraising report filed with the state ethics administration that covers the fundraising period that ended last year. Political Analyst Bernie Pinsonat said the two statewide elected Republicans are strong early favorites.
“Those are the two candidates that everyone expects to run for Governor, they’ve been running for Governor for the last three years even though they didn’t run two years ago they certainly were potential candidates,” said Pinsonat. ....
