MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Sean Smith, chief operating officer at WVU MedicineCamden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg, will become president of Wetzel County Hospital in New Martinsville effective Jan. 1. He will assume the role from David Hess, M.D., who, in addition to serving as president and CEO of Reynolds Memorial Hospital, will fill the same position at Uniontown Hospital.
“Sean is an experienced leader who has been very successful at Camden Clark and is more than ready to step into this new role. I know he will do a great job working with the Wetzel team and medical staff to help lead the continued development of services and access,” Albert L. PRINCETON — Today is Princeton Community Hospital’s 50th birthday, and an agreement made that now allows WVU Hospitals to manage PCH is seen as a positive move to ensure many more birthdays in the future.

PRINCETON — Today is Princeton Community Hospital’s 50th birthday, and an agreement made that now allows WVU Hospitals to manage PCH is seen as a positive move to ensure many more birthdays in the future.
On Thursday, The PCH Board of Directors approved and executed an agreement that said West Virginia University Hospitals Inc. will assist PCH in “day-to-day” operations and explore opportunities for more integrated services.
Other parts of the agreement that were approved included a collaborative clinical relationship, a business association agreement and the use of the WVU trademark.
The City of Princeton consented to the agreement Friday during a city council meeting. ....

ST. CLAIRSVILLE COVID-19 vaccinations were set to begin this morning for frontline workers at Wheeling Hospital and WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glen Dale, a massive step toward curbing the spread of a virus that claimed eight more Belmont County lives over the weekend.
The hospitals’ frontline workers represent the first part of the first phase in West Virginia’s vaccination rollout. They will receive the Pfizer version of the vaccine, which gained federal approval for emergency distribution Friday night.
Wheeling Hospital Assistant Vice President Tony Martinelli said hospital staff traveled to Morgantown on Monday to retrieve the first doses of the vaccine. ....

COVID claims more local residents | News, Sports, Jobs

ST. CLAIRSVILLE As coronavirus cases surge across Ohio and the first vaccines are administered, three more Eastern Ohio resident deaths were reported Thursday.
Belmont County Deputy Health Commissioner Robert Sproul reported two more county residents had died while infected with the virus.
The Ohio Department of Health’s coronavirus.ohio.gov website also reported that another Jefferson County resident died, bringing total COVID-19 associated deaths there to 38.
Sproul said 59 Belmont Countians have died after becoming infected with COVID-19.
The latest are a man in his 80s and a woman in her 90s. In total, the county has confirmed 3,043 positive cases since spring, with 1,009 people now isolated at home with active cases and 1,926 recoveries. Forty-nine residents are hospitalized with the illness. ....
