Superintendence still waiting for masterplan on Romeo Romano garden Environment minister Aaron Farrugia may have jumped the gun on announcing a “multi-million” upgrade to Santa Venera’s Romeo Romano gardens because it still has to be assessed by the Superintendence for Cultural Heritage 14 May 2021, 7:26am by James Debono Environment minister Aaron Farrugia may have jumped the gun on announcing a “multi-million” upgrade to Santa Venera’s Romeo Romano gardens, because by enjoying the highest level of protection it is still being assessed by the Superintendence for Cultural Heritage. Last week Farrugia, for whom Sta Venera and Hamrun are part of his first district constituency, presented photomontages of a playground in a section of the garden presently closed to the public. ....
Tell me, who do you trust? The only way this administration can ever hope to regain trust in the way it handles the environment is to actually listen to what the public is saying Josanne Cassar 10 May 2021, 7:15am “Trust levels in any society tend to be reasonably accurate representations of how trustworthy that society has been. Trust is the ratio of the times someone has shown up for you versus the times somebody has betrayed you. Marginalised groups tend to be the most distrustful, for good reasons they’ve been betrayed. But this will be restricted to what is presently a closed part of the garden, which is now being opened to the public. ....
A multi-million upgrade of Romeo Romano Gardens in Santa Venera will begin soon, the Environment Minister said on Wednesday, with an initial phase expected to be wrapped up within nine months. The regeneration will include the restoration of historical features and a kitchen garden similar to the popular one behind San Anton Gardens in Attard. Romeo Romano Gardens date back to the 1500s and are Malta s second-largest gardens, after San Anton. Part of the gardens are currently closed off to public access but that is set to change as part of the garden s regeneration project launched on Wednesday. Environment Minister Aaron Farrugia said the multi-functional project would return a partly closed off open area to the public. ....
