Bureau of Land Management Seeks Public Input on Proposed Invasive Plant Management Environmental Assessment
Roseburg, Ore. – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Roseburg District has begun preparation of a programmatic environmental assessment (EA) for the management of non-native invasive and noxious weeds. The BLM is asking the public to share any concerns or specific information they may have about the proposed action.
The proposed action builds upon the current invasive plant management program and would allow herbicide use on all non-native invasive plant species, not limited to noxious weeds, as well as the use of additional herbicides. Currently, some non-native invasive plants have no effective control methods available for use on the Roseburg District. In addition, more selective herbicides are now available to the BLM to treat a wider variety of invasive plant species which can be used in lower quantities and which pose less environmental and human health-safet ....

ROSEBURG, Ore. – The 2021 fire season is about to begin in Douglas County.
At the stroke of midnight on Friday, May 28, fire season will officially begin for all private, county, state, and Bureau of Indian Affairs lands within the Douglas District as well as public lands within the Umpqua National Forest and the Bureau Land Management’s Roseburg District are included in the declaration.
Public use restrictions will be implemented, including the following:
Smoking is prohibited while traveling, except in vehicles on improved roads, in boats on the water, and at other designated locations.
Backyard debris burning, including the use of burn barrels, is prohibited. ....

Roseburg, Ore. – As part of the commitment to improve forest resiliency and sustainability, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Roseburg District is proposing a plan to maintain and enhance habitat diversity within Late-Successional and Riparian Reserves throughout the South River Field Office. The BLM is seeking public input on the proposed plan. This input is critical to the planning process and to determining the scope of issues to be addressed in the environmental assessment (EA).

Roseburg, Ore. – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Roseburg District released an Environmental Assessment (EA) for proposed fire recovery activities on BLM-administered lands within the Archie Creek Fire perimeter on April 9, 2021. The EA analyzes the potential environmental effects of salvage harvesting timber in fire-affected stands and removing hazard trees along roadways and near private and BLM-managed infrastructure.
