Sun to be directly above Sri Lanka for 10 days (Photos)

The Meteorological Department states that the sun will be directly above the latitudes of Sri Lanka from today (04) until 14 April.
Accordingly, the sun will be over Thelwatta, Baddegama, Dediyawala, Mulatiyana, Angunakopelessa and Udamalala areas today (05).
The Meteorological Department stated that due to this there could be extreme temperatures in 10 districts which should be taken into consideration.
Heat index, the temperature felt on human body is expected to increase up to ‘Extreme Caution’ level at some places in Mullaitivu, Vauniya, Puttalam, Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Ampara and Monaragala districts.
The Heat Index Forecast is calculated by using relative humidity and maximum temperature and this is the condition that is felt on your body. This is not the forecast of maximum temperature. It is generated by the Department of Meteorology for the next day period and ....

The Mrs. Sri Lanka pageant held at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre last night for the Mrs World contest ended in a major controversy with scense unseen in the hsitory of the pagent in Sri Lanka.
Former Miss Sri Lanka Pushpika De Silva was announced as Mrs. Sri Lanka 2021, but moments later her she was dethroned with the accusation that she was not fit to hold the crown as she was a divorcee.

COLOMBO/MUMBAI (Reuters) - Sri Lanka on Monday banned imports of palm oil and new palm plantations, and told producers to uproot existing plantations in a phased manner, in a surprise move that baffled the edible oil industry.
Palm oil imports and the number of plantations have been increasing in recent years in Sri Lanka, a leading producer of coconut oil.
Sri Lanka’s President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said in a statement the aim was to “make the country free from oil palm plantation and palm oil consumption.” ....

The statement We will not change the Muslim law no matter who changes it appeared to be the immediate reason for Azath Sally s arrest. Minister of Police Sarath Weerasekera also stated that he would arrest Azath Sally s based on his statement on Muslim marriage law. However, Attorney General Dappula was of the opinion that it would be a big mess if Azard Salley would be arrested for the statement he made under the ICCPR.
An audio recording of former President Sirisena claiming that Sarath Weerasekara is the one who demolished the Ampara mosque had been released to the media at that time. According to the audio recording, Dappula told Sarath Weerasekera that he would be arrested before Azath Salley under the ICCPR. ....
