(KOLD News 13) - Northern Cochise Community Hospital had to toss 70 doses of the Moderna vaccine due to a processing failure, according to a report by AZ Family. A spokesperson for the hospital told AZ Family it had to toss out the doses in late December as it began vaccinating its health care workers. That’s when the hospital experienced “a process failure that resulted in the loss of some vaccine,” according to AZ Family. ....

Author: 12 News Updated: 3:45 PM MST December 23, 2020 PHOENIX Rural and western Arizona hospitals are bearing a heavier load of COVID patients than they have been, according to a 12 News analysis of the latest U.S. Health and Human Services data for every hospital in the state. The data is a week-by-week look of average patient loads by each hospital in the country. Hospitals in Arizona s major urban centers Phoenix and Tucson have seen massive rises in average COVID-19 patient loads. Banner Estrella Medical Center in Phoenix, for instance, went from an average of 39.6 COVID patients the week of November 6 to an average of 125.1 the week of December 11. ....
The nationwide âsurgeâ of coronavirus cases is being felt in La Paz County. In the same week the United States recorded 1.6 million new cases to top 18 million, La Paz County saw 88 new cases reported between Dec. 12 and Dec. 19, to bring the countyâs total up to 1,159. The number of new cases was lower than the 102 reported between Dec. 5 and Dec. 12. There were also three more deaths recorded to bring the countyâs total to 24. The countyâs total include 472 members of the Colorado River Indian Tribes who were tested at Indian Health Services. Thatâs 31 additional cases since Dec. 12, which is lower than the previous weekâs increase of 41. A total of eight Tribal members have died. ....
