Former RRS Commander DCP Tunji Disu Appointed As Kyari’s Replacement
DCP Tunji Disu the immediate Past Commander of the Lagos State Security outfit, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), has been appointed as replacement for the embattled DCP Abba Kyari as Head, Police Intelligence Response Team.
In a release signed by CP Frank Mba, the Force PRO, the appointment was made by the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba.
According to the statement “The posting of the officer is on the heels of Management’s decision to fill the leadership gap within the IRT and refocus the Unit for better service delivery. ....

Awolowo Dosumu to grace the showing of 'Awo' at Glover Hall in Lagos

Dr Tokunbo Awolowo Dosumu, daughter of the sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, will be the special guest of honour at the command performance of a new play about the sage entitled: ‘Awo.’
‘Awo’ is a depiction of the life and times of the Papa Awolowo who played a very significant role in national development from the years immediately after independence through the Civil War up until his later life as the nation struggled to find its essence.
According to Joseph Edgar, the Duke of Shomolu who is the Executive Producer of the play, the need to throw up very strong leadership issues using the life of Chief Awolowo as a pedestal cannot be more than emphasised at this time. ....

Sanwo-Olu congratulates Musiliu Smith at 75

Smith is also a former Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and ex-head of the Lagos State Security Council.
Sanwo-Olu, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Gboyega Akosile on Friday in Lagos, described Smith as a worthy ambassador, committed public servant and elder statesman worth celebrating.
He said that the former IGP had lived an exemplary life of hard work, purposefulness and dedication to the service of humanity.
According to him, Smith committed a greater part of his life to public service in different capacities, especially his contributions to the Nigeria Police.
He said that the former IGP remained one of the few residents whose contributions to the growth and development of Lagos State and Nigeria could not be written off. ....

The organisers of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon will hold a world press conference today to herald the sixth edition of the World Athletics Silver Label Race.
In a statement issued by Head of Communication and Media, Olukayode Thomas, the world press conference which will have in attendance the top elite runners from across the world will hold at the Molade Okoya Thomas Hall at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.
Thomas explained that only 25 journalists will be attending today’s event due to the strict protocols for Covid-19 spelt out by the NDDC as well as the Lagos State Safety Commission. ....
