Demographic and Clinical Characteristics on Disease Severity

D) Diffuse involvement.
The distribution of disease severity was mild in 40.9% (n 221), severe in 53.7% (n 290), and critical in 5.4% (n 29) of patients (Table 3). The median patient age was significantly lower among patients with mild disease than among patients with severe or critical disease (p 0.001 for both comparisons). In this study, there were more male patients (55.9%) than female patients (44.1%). However, no significant sex-related difference was observed in terms of disease severity (p 0.178). Smoking frequency (ie, median packs/year) was significantly lower in patients with mild disease than in patients with severe or critical disease (p 0.001 and p 0.016, respectively).

COVID-19 diseases severity categorization

Patients and Methods
Study Design
This retrospective observational study was conducted on COVID-19 patients (positive polymerase chain reaction [PCR] results via nasopharyngeal swab) between June 1 and mid July 2020. Patients were recruited from Kasr Al-Aini School of Medicine, Cairo University Hospitals.
We included all adult patients (18 −75 years) suffering from mild or moderate COVID-19 infection according to World Health Organization (WHO) criteria for the clinical management of COVID-19.
11 Patients were excluded if they had severe COVID-19 disease, were hospitalized, or had unavailable nasopharyngeal swab results.
According to WHO classification, COVID-19 infection was categorized into mild, moderate or severe infection. Mild COVID-19 defines as respiratory symptoms without evidence of pneumonia or hypoxia, while moderate or severe infection defined as presence of clinical and radiological evidence of pneumonia. In moderate cases, SpO2 ≥90% on room a ....

Camel Trypanosomosis in Yabelo and Gomole Districts in Ethiopia: Preva

Trypanosoma evansi and it is endemic in tropical and subtropical areas.
9 Camel trypanosomosis is the most prevalent disease in Ethiopia (22%) and serious economic loss results from morbidity (30.0%) and mortality (3.0%) of camels in the country.
1 Camel trypanosomosis or Surra is one of the major problems worldwide and it can attack camels at any age, even fetuses. In Ethiopia particularly in the Borana zone, the disease is widespread reducing thus the camel production and productivity.
10 Usually, trypanosomosis in camel results in anemia, weight loss, pale mucous membranes, enlarged lymph node, loss of milk and meat, and abortion.
The principle for the management of camel trypanosomosis was dependent on reducing the contact between camel and vectors. To effectively control camel trypanosomosis, it is crucial to know the magnitude and associated risk factors of the disease in the areas. This study helps to implement appropriate control and prevention methods. How ....
