Lansdale Human Relations Commission asking for 2021 budget

LANSDALEÂ â They may not have made many headlines lately, but Lansdale s Human Relations Commission members have been hard at work.Â
Borough council heard an update from that commission recently, including their first-ever request for taxpayer dollars, and what they can do with those funds.
We just recently submitted a budget proposal for the remainder of 2021, and we re looking forward to council reviewing, and hopefully approving, that budget, said HRC chairperson Aurelia Henry.

Lansdale s Human Relations Commission was created in August 2018 to field and rule on complaints regarding discrimination due toÂ gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation, and commission members were appointed at the end of that year. Skaters to host donation drive for code blue shelter

LANSDALEÂ â This winter s Code Blue shelter season appears to finally be over, and a local group of volunteers are already looking ahead to next winter.
Members of Lansdale s skatepark community are planning a Skater-Aid donation drive on May 22 to collect much-needed items, and one of Lansdale s most recognizable figures will be there.
We chose the Code Blue shelter because we wanted to ensure the community rallied together to prepare Trinity Lutheran for the colder months of the year, as they are in the midst of organizing collection efforts now, for the winter, said organizer Ryan Weiss.

Lansdale: New use discussed for historic stove works site on Cannon Avenue

LANSDALEÂ â An historic building hidden in plain sight on one of Lansdale s busiest streets could soon have a new use.
Councilman Rich DiGregorio gave an update earlier this month about early talks on a new user for a three-story brick building on Cannon Avenue.
It s the brick building right by the railroad tracksÂ â it s a commercial site, and they want to make it a residential apartment use, said DiGregorio.

The property in question is a three-story brick building at 501 N. Cannon Avenue, just south of the rail crossing and across the street from the Cannoneers Club that has been refurbished by that organization in recent years. According to a property listing by developer Situs Properties Inc., the building contains 18,126 square feet of space, including about 3,000 square feet of office space on the second floor, with a detached garage of 4,312 square feet, on a lot of 0.79 acres.
