Weâll take what we can get. This seems to be the general sentiment around the Biden administrationâs response to COVID. We didnât get $2,000 stimulus checks as originally promised, but weâll take the $1,400. They didnât raise the minimum wage to $15 during the midst of a devastating pandemic and recession, but the American Rescue Plan does include a child tax credit beginning in July.
There are volunteer groups out there trying to help eligible people book appointments, like Get Out The Shot LA. One of the cofounders, Liz Schwandt, pointed out the LA County portal displays what type of vaccines each site offers in a rectangle in the upper right hand corner.

“If you are a teen and only approved for the Pfizer vaccine, I would definitely recommend calling and double checking, especially for folks who don t have that flexibility with time or transportation,” Schwandt added.
We have more than enough supply of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines to continue the current pace of about 3 million shots per day, Zients told reporters at a press briefing.
So far, this has held true. The country is averaging 3.3 million daily vaccine doses reported administered over the past week, and 3 million when counting only Pfizer and Moderna. Only about 7.8 million of the 202 million total shots given in the U.S. have been from J&J, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data.
But the single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine does represent about 10% of all fully vaccinated people in the U.S., a proportion that was on the rise for weeks, and it has proven valuable for certain situations and communities.

Ana Guevara was determined to get a covid vaccine for her mother, 85-year-old Adelina Coto, but she needed help. Guevara, a full-time nanny in Los Angeles, didn’t have the time or knowledge to search for appointments online. Guevara’s son, a school district employee, lacked the time to park himself in front of a computer waiting for new appointments to drop.
