New Jersey woman dies after 1-car crash in the Poconos

A 22-year-old woman from Clifton, New Jersey, died after a one-car crash Wednesday in Mount Pocono, police report.
Pocono Mountain Regional officers were dispatched at 5:47 p.m. to Center Avenue in the Monroe County community where a 2001 Honda Civic was wrapped around a tree, police Chief Chris Wagner said Thursday in a news release.
An 18-year-old man, from Pocono Summit, and the woman were trapped in the car, Wagner said. When freed, the man was flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Salisbury Township and the woman was airlifted to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre, where she was later pronounced dead, Wagner said. ....

Police ID man killed in crash involving cement truck


LAUREL RUN — The Luzerne County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday identified the man killed in a crash involving a cement truck Monday on Laurel Run Road.
Louis Walkowiak, 62, died of multiple traumatic injuries from the crash, which occurred around 11:30 a.m., according to a press release.
Dr. Charles Siebert performed an autopsy earlier Tuesday.
The manner of Walkowiak’s death is pending investigation by state police Troop P in Wyoming, the county district attorney’s office and the coroner’s office, according to the press release.
Police had said Monday that the driver of a pickup involved in the crash had died. Neither police on Monday nor the coroner’s office on Tuesday identified the driver of the cement truck. ....
