Broken sewer main shuts down roads in Lebanon; repairs expected to take days

LEBANON A broken sewer main on the city’s east side will force the shutdown of roads while repairs are made, Lebanon’s Public Works Department said Thursday.
The break, at Baker’s Crossing Conservation Area, near Hardy Hill Road and the Mascoma River, occurred around 1 p.m. Thursday. It’s deep underground, and workers will need to bypass the sewer system, so repairs could take multiple days.
With heavy rain in the forecast, work is not expected to begin until Saturday morning. During the repairs, Packard Hill Covered Bridge will be closed, as will Riverside Drive between the bridge and Right Space Storage. Baker’s Crossing Conservation Area also will be closed. ....

Lebanon Public Works crews were out on Thursday preparing ahead of the storm that is expected to bring rain.
Crews were making sure catch basins are clear of snow before the heavy rains arrive.
.Putting in these bump outs so that the snow, or the rain that follows the roadway has a place to detour off the edge of the roadway, not creating flooding problems, Lebanon Public Works Department director Jim Donison said.
