LOWVILLE â Two positive COVID-19 tests in staff members have led to the suspension of all visitors to the Lewis County nursing home again. According to a news release issued by the Lewis County Health System on Tuesday evening, the cases were identified during weekly staff testing that has continued even as the number of COVID cases have diminished in the community. The facility is in the process of testing all residents and staff, called âoutbreak testing,â which is required by the state Department of Health visitation guidelines when a new case of COVID-19 is identified, as is the suspension of all visitation. ....
CONSTABLEVILLE â With the cancellation for the second year of the clubâs major fundraiser, the Flywheels and Pulleys Club co-founders Olga and John Miller have come up with an alternative. The club, established in 1976 to commemorate the United States bicentennial through its membersâ shared love of preserving antique equipment, holds an event â Old Time Gas and Steam Engine Show each fall. The event, which displays more than 200 pieces of antique farm machinery, tractors and engines, attracts more than 5,000 spectators to the clubâs 42-acre property off Route 26. In the past, a horizontal greased-pole contest, wood-stove cooking, woodworking and blacksmith demonstrations, antique tractor pull, ladiesâ crosscut-sawing and frying pan tossing contests, bands for dancing, along with raffles, flea markets and vendor fairs have been part of the weekend event. ....
PORT LEYDEN â The Lewis County Sheriffâs Office is looking for a blue and gray duffel bag with an airline tag attached that fell from a vehicle at the Port Leyden traffic light at about 5 p.m. on Friday. âThis bag could possibly be linked to several larcenies that have occurred in the recent months,â the Officeâs news release said.
