Results from yesterday’s Municipal Primary in Pennsylvania…
For Lewistown Borough Council, four-year term, the top three on the Republican ballot were Jim Steele, Richard Erhard, and Bill Wilson.  Top Republican vote-getters for a two-year term were Larry “Heavy” Searer and Bobby Hammond.
For Burnham Borough Council, the top three Republicans were Lisa Barker Wise, Thomas Garver, and Robert Soccio.  Matthew Deamer was the lone Democrat.
On the Republican ballot for Mifflin County Register & Recorder, Ellen Amspacker defeated incumbent Barbara Stringer.
For County Treasurer, Republican Diane Griffith was a winner over incumbent Deb Civitts.  Democrat Lauren Mowry ran unopposed.
On the Republican ballot for Mifflin County School Board, the top four vote-getters were Diane Stewart, Mark Baker, Don Wright, and John Knepp.  On the Democrat side, winners were Kristin Aromatorio, Rose Marie Schulz, Diane Stewart, and John Knepp. ....

LETI set to expand vision to Lewistown | News, Sports, Jobs


LEWISTOWN – The statewide Law Enforcement Treatment Initiative is set to expand to Mifflin County.
During a Lewistown Borough Council meeting held Monday evening, Police Chief David Clemens said he is starting to work on getting the program up and running.
LETI is a collaboration between local law enforcement and the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office. According to a press release from the office, citizens may use sheriffs, probation officers and parole officers as a resource to contact treatment partners without the threat of arrest.
Clemens said LETI is intended to address mental health and drug issues in the community.
Under LETI, county law enforcement agencies open their station doors to those suffering from drug addiction, help identify treatment for those who seek it, assist with transportation to facilities and study outcomes, the release states. ....

MABL OKs debt resolution | News, Sports, Jobs

LEWISTOWN At a special meeting Monday, board members approved a resolution by a 3 – 1 margin that asks the borough of Lewistown to take over the Municipal Authority of the Borough of Lewistown’s (MABL) debt.
In a roll call vote, board president Ben Rager and members Jennifer Miller and Frank Berrier voted in favor. Board member Jeff Rocco, appearing via Zoom, voted against, chastising the board in the process.
By allowing the borough to refinance its debt, the borough is a step closer to its previously discussed proposition to take ownership of the municipal authority and lease it to generate revenue for the borough. ....

The Mifflin County Commissioners issued a proclamation Thursday recognizing the Mifflin County Library in observance of National Library Week. LEWISTOWN The Mifflin County Commissioners on Thursday recognized the Mifflin County Library with a proclamation in observance of National Library Week.
During their regular meeting, Commissioner Kevin Kodish read the proclamation, in which the commissioners lauded the library for the service it provides and calling upon residents to visit the library and use its resources. ....
