Work on £285,000 upgrade in north-east town takes major step forward

A major project to revamp a north-east town centre has taken a major step forward.
Construction of the £285,000 stage for public performances is part of the regeneration of Drummers Corner in Peterhead.
Site set-up and groundworks on the chosen scheme started last month with hopes the entire project can be completed in July.
Now the roof on the existing shelter, known locally as the drum, has started to be torn off as part of the build.

However, some business leaders hope the introduction of Level three restrictions will encourage people to support local during the festive season.
Colin Cameron, who owns the Kirkgate Bar, The Bridge and Masada Bar, said pub bosses need customers, not support.
He said: “It’s a real disappointment for the hospitality industry in Aberdeen because we have done so well.
“In my three pubs, we are doing our best to ensure people have a substantial meal when they are having alcohol and are complying with the rules. Customers really appreciate what we are doing and the staff are all up for it. ....

North-east town aims to raise a smile with festive trail

A north-east town is using its fishing heritage for a festive trail.
Rediscover Peterhead business improvement district have been working with 30 businesses in the town centre on the project.
Anyone taking part has to find 30 Christmas or fish inspired graphics which have been placed in shop windows.
It includes a whiting choir, a crab laying out its milk and cookies for Santa and two squid sporting winter woolies.
The trail uses QR codes and each graphic can be scanned with people able to find a joke, fact, recipe or enter a competition run by Rediscover Peterhead. ....

A competition to locate images of seafood inspired Christmas graphics is underway in a north-east town.
The Peterhead Christmas Town Trawl has been launched in an effort to support local shops over the festive season.
Those interested are asked to find 30 images located in shop and business windows across the town centre. ....
