Tammy Hurt was elected chair of the Recording Academy’s board of trustees at the board’s May meeting. Hurt is the third woman to be elected to that post.
Harvey Mason Jr named Recording Academy President & CEO
After more than a year without a permanent chief executive, the Recording Academy announced that interim President & CEO Harvey Mason Jr. has been named to the organization’s top two posts.
Mason has been in the position on an unpaid, interim basis since January 2020, when his predecessor Deborah Dugan acrimoniously parted ways with the organization after just 8 months on the job. He also served Chair of the Academy’s Board, a position he will relinquish now that he’s been tapped for the leadership post.
