Lenawee County looking at feasibility for a recreational center


The vision for the facility is for it to be self-funded from an operational standpoint and to be an economic driver for county businesses as a sports and community complex. This would be done through hosting elite athletic tournaments, recruiting related business tenants and trade shows. Funding for project development would be done through grants, private investment and general county funds, the release said.    
“This proposed project will not increase taxes for any resident,” Murphy said in the release. “The final numbers on this project have not come in yet, but several community stakeholders have come forward wanting to partner on this project. Should this project proceed, it will be a collaboration with multiple public and private entities.”   ....

ADRIAN A COVID-19 vaccination clinic with the Pfizer vaccine will take place Saturday in Adrian.
Anyone 12 or older can be vaccinated at the clinic, which will take place from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Lenawee County Fair and Event Grounds, the Lenawee County Health Department announced Thursday. Appointments can be scheduled online at tinyurl.com/vaccinatelenawee or by phone at 517-264-4501. Walk-in appointments are also available.
Members of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) voted unanimously Wednesday to recommend the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for adolescents 12-15 years of age under the Food and Drug Administration s emergency use authorization. The Pfizer vaccine had already received an EUA for people 16 and older. ....

Adrian Schools board of education eyes a return to in-person meetings

ADRIAN There are several factors to take into consideration if in-person board of education meetings are to return in the coming weeks to Adrian Public Schools.
That was the general consensus taken away from board members and district personnel Monday when the Adrian Board of Education met in a virtual meeting and looked at the possibility of bringing board meetings back to an in-person format.
Because of the impact brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, public meetings have for the larger part of the past year been conducted online in order to avoid gatherings of individuals. Conducting meetings in such a fashion has been OK’d locally by the state of emergency orders, as recently extended through July by the Lenawee County Board of Commissioners.  ....

Lenawee County extends COVID-19 state of emergency through July

ADRIAN A countywide state of emergency that allows for public bodies to meet virtually during the coronavirus pandemic has been extended for another three months.
The mass COVID-19 vaccination clinics being run by the Lenawee County Health Department are also organized under the state of emergency order, a resolution passed Wednesday by the Lenawee County Board of Commissioners said.
The state of emergency now runs through July 31. It had been scheduled to end on April 30 and was first declared on March 24, 2020.
A state law that took effect in October allows local governing bodies, such as city councils, school boards and township boards, to meet virtually as long as a local or countywide state of emergency has been declared. ....
