Over 1,200 donors supported the campaign to help secure a Grand Prize!
For the third year in a row, LifeBridge Community Services has won a Grand Prize from Fairfield County’s Community Foundation for securing the highest number of unique donors during the Foundation’s annual Giving Day campaign. In total, LifeBridge raised over $80,000 to support youth programming and behavioral health services for children and families in Bridgeport.
Alan Mathis, LifeBridge President & CEO said, “We want to thank Fairfield County’s Community Foundation, Champion Sponsor, Bank of America and all of the sponsors for the opportunity to participate and to raise visibility of the challenges our Bridgeport neighbors face. LifeBridge Community Services dedicated the Music Room in the Center for Youth Development to Brendan Miles of Southport. The dedication is in recognition of a $180,000 gift from Brendan and Carolyn Miles’ daughter Molly Miles. The amount represents half of the proceeds from the sale of a vintage Ferrari the couple gifted to their daughter. Molly decided to donate the proceeds to LifeBridge in recognition of her father who has served as Board Chair and now on the Board. ....

The Black Rock Foundation and LifeBridge Community Services, non-profit organizations serving Bridgeport youth and families, announced a new collaboration to foster literacy among youth served by the organizations.
To kick-off their initial collaboration, LifeBridge President & CEO Alan Mathis and The Black Rock Foundation Executive Director Michael Brown decided to create a much-needed library for the children and young adults at LifeBridge’s main headquarters. The Black Rock Foundation donated 160 books to LifeBridge to initially open the library.
“We look forward to working with the Black Rock Foundation to expand what we are able to offer our Urban Scholars,” said Mathis. “Reading and literacy is critical to helping them excel in school and the library will provide innumerable ways for them to explore the world beyon ....

More than 12,000 individuals donated to about 400 nonprofits taking part in the Fairfield County Community Foundation’s annual Giving Day last February.
What many didn’t know was the $1.65 million raised that day would help these organizations weather the storm looming ahead. ....

Senator Marilyn Moore Lends Support to LifeBridge Take the Cill out of Winter Coat Distribution
In an effort to “Take the Chill Out of Winter,” LifeBridge Community Services will distribute warm winter apparel to the many families it serves with help from Senator Marilyn Moore. New and gently used coats and other winter gear will be given away to LifeBridge clients on Tuesday, December 15 and Wednesday, December 16 at their Bridgeport headquarters located at 475 Clinton Avenue.
“We are relaunching our Community Closet operation which was impacted by the COVID-19 crisis,” said LifeBridge President & CEO Alan Mathis. “We wanted to be sure that the families we continue to serve through the Diaper Bank, Urban Scholars, Behavioral Health and other programs have what they need to stay warm this winter. It’s been a tough year and many of those we serve are struggling right now.” ....
