Laubach, and seven year old son Frank C. Laubach of Benton, Columbia County, PA. The latter would become known world-wide for his success in literacy in a program he developed titled “Each one Teach One.” LAIRDSVILLE – Many individuals, especially educators, recognize the name Frank Charles Laubach as a missionary who fought illiteracy around the world. A quote linked to the late Benton born man was, “The ability to read is the key to the door of the world, and through them, to a world of understanding, instead of fear hate and superstition.” ....
Jan 21, 2021 LAIRDSVILLE A sewer project here will receive a $2.76 million grant through the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST), according to state Sen. Gene Yaw, R-Loyalsock Township, and state Rep. Joe Hamm, R-Hepburn Township. As part of the current round of PENNVEST loan and grant initiatives, Franklin Township will receive the grant to construct a new sanitary sewer system, as well as a new pumping station that will serve residential customers in the Village of Lairdsville. “Lairsdville was founded in 1829 and, like many of our communities, its aging infrastructure needs significant upgrades,” Yaw said. “Even as we face difficult economic challenges due to COVID-19, we are still able to make these investments to improve residents’ lives.” ....
