On Saturday, Feb. 20, College of DuPage Professor of Astronomy Joe DalSanto will discuss new discoveries and technology that are fundamentally changing the way astronomers study the universe during A New View of the Universe from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Naper Settlement's galleries now open with the extended 'Women: Waves of Change Exhibit'

To commemorate Women s History Month, Naper Settlement invites the community to stop by the extended Women: Waves of Change exhibit which explores the stories of women, past and present, who were and are foundational in the formation and development of Naperville and beyond.
Naper and Heritage Galleries, located on the main level of the Pre-Emption House Visitor Center, are now reopened to the public.

The exhibit, which debuted in August, commemorates the 100th anniversary of Women s Suffrage, with a focus on local history, and with an eye toward framing it within a larger story of the different ways women have advocated for issues throughout the past century and a half. The exhibit will show a national narrative as the backdrop and highlight women s stories from Naperville. Featuring fun cultural touchstones and artifacts, Women: Waves of Change shows how the community fits into different larger movements and trends. ....

During Black History Month, the Alzheimer s Association is highlighting the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion in Alzheimer s disease research.
On Thursday, Feb. 25, the Matters of the Mind seminar will feature a discussion on this topic by Carl V. Hill, Ph.D., M.P.H., Vice President of Scientific Engagement and Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer for the Alzheimer s Association, and Crystal Glover, PH.D., Division of Behavioral Sciences Assistant Professor at Rush Medical College and Social Psychologist at the Rush Alzheimer s Disease Center.

This virtual seminar from 10 a.m. to noon will examine why it is important that study populations in clinical research reflect the diversity of the overall population, and what can happen when this is not the case.
