Lessons for all in Lisle police-community partnership, village trustee says

Trustee Sara Sadat is hoping the rest of the country can learn from Lisle when it comes to the community and police working together. Sadat held a news conference Saturday at North Arbor View Park to discuss the community and policing partnership.
The Lisle community and Lisle police department has done everything right from the very get-go, Sadat said.

Sadat said the work of Unity Partnership, a grassroots movement to improve policing and policy, is helping the partnership work. She also talked about the addition of bodycams coming this year as an important step.
Sadat was joined at the conference by DuPage NAACP President Michael Childress, Unity Partnership founder Regina Brent, and Paul Scott, who serves as a law enforcement liaison for Unity Partnership. ....

VNA Health Care is delighted to announce that on Thursday, Dec. 31, at 9 a.m., it will begin vaccinating staff with patient contact against COVID-19.
This vaccination clinic will take place at the VNA Health Center in Aurora.

2020 has been a year that has been indelibly shaped by the emergence of the COVID-19 global pandemic. Throughout this year, VNA has been dedicated to the delivery of care to vulnerable populations at increased risk of health disparities. Police identify driver in fatal Lisle crash

Police have identified a Chicago man as the driver who was killed early Tuesday morning in a one-car crash after a high-speed chase in Lisle.
Marcus L. Thomas, 30, died from injuries he suffered when the 2020 Honda Accord he was driving crashed on an entrance ramp at I-88 and Naper Boulevard.

Minutes earlier, at 1:13 a.m., a Lisle police officer had observed Thomas driving 20 mph over the speed limit near the 1500 block of Ogden Avenue. The officer pulled the driver over, police said in a news release.
As the officer waited for backup, he was notified the car had been reported stolen in Chicago on Dec. 16. Thomas then sped away on westbound Ogden. ....

This spring, College of DuPage is offering a four-week virtual mindfulness course for students as a way to learn various techniques to reduce stress and anxiety during these trying times.
The course meets over Zoom for four sessions from 3 to 4:15 p.m. starting Jan. 5 through Jan. 26.

Koru Mindfulness is the only evidence-based mindfulness curriculum designed for college-aged adults, said COD Adjunct Faculty Support Kate Szetela. ....
