Planning board OKs Northeast's new Route 16 ATV rental site | Local

GORHAM â The out-of-the-box idea that Northeast Snowmobile & ATV rentalsâ owner Terry MacGillivray had unexpectedly presented to the Planning Board on Thursday, April 15, was given the green light by unanimous vote with a single abstention one week later on April 22.
The board OK d his proposal to rent a maximum of 70 all-terrain vehicles from a 50,000-square-foot level commercial lot on North Main Street (Route 16) owned by Chip and Becky Bean of Errol.
The board did not require a site plan review since the business will operate at this site for only up to a year on rented property.
If MacGillivrayâs plan to reduce the heavy use ATV use from 177 Main St. works as well as he expects and he wants to continue the arrangement, then he will come before the board for site plan review. ....

ATV rental site plan review continued until Nov. 18

GORHAM â At the request of applicant Terry MacGillvray on Thursday, March 11, the Gorham Planning Board voted unanimously, 4 to 0, to continue its site plan review until Nov. 18 on the 4.80-acre former Burger King parcel at 197 Main Street and also to extend the decision time period until Jan. 30, 2022.
Reuben Rejala, Earl McGillicuddy, Peter Gagnon, and ex-officio selectman member Mike Waddell all voted yes; chairman Paul Robitaille only votes to break a tie.
This was the third Thursday evening in a row in which the Board had reviewed the application for the proposed site of the Polaris âSummer Funâ ATV-UTV rental facility. ....

Pandemic leads to uptick in snowmachine rentals

FRYEBURG, Maine â Local snowmobile rental outfitters agree that demand for snow machines has been way up over past years, once the snow arrived.
âFor the end of January and February, we pretty much sold out every weekend and midweek has also been good,â said Michael Scontas of Northeast Snowmobile & ATV Rentals of Gorham and Fryeburg (northeastsnowmobile.com; 800-458-1838).
âThis Saturday and Sunday, we are booking 100 percent and expect it to continue to be strong as March moves along but we are facing the possibility of a quick warmup next week so after this weekend we will continue to play it by ear,â he added. ....

We are writing in response to the letter in the Feb 18 edition from Terry MacGillivray of Northeast Snowmobile and ATV Rentals regarding his proposed plans for the old Burger King site in Gorham. We tried to engage with him directly but our comments were removed from his companyâs Facebook page.
Our response to Mr. MacGillivray is as follows: You say youâre not looking to expand your business but the original site plan you filed with the Gorham Planning board shows parking for at least 175 4-person side by sides and it could be more if you use smaller ATVs. Thatâs a huge increase from the 48 allowed at your current location. The revised site plan you filed with the town states that âonly 150 will be stored on siteâ - but thatâs a 300% increase! ....
